China Embroidery

In addition to helping their husbands in the fields, most Zhuang women spend their days cooking meals in their traditional stick and mud houses, watching over their children and grandchildren, and burning incense to appease their ancestors. Since they can’t ­obtain jobs because of their lack of marketable skills, China Embroidery is teaching the village women to embroider and stitch Christmas ornaments. Not only do the women earn extra income by making ornaments, they also find support from each other and learn to let go of the fear of their ancestors’ spirits.
